Children's Rights

Every child should have equal rights. At Nelson Central School we have these rights. Some people don’t have these rights. It’s not fair that we have clean water and they don’t.

We have been learning about the children of Kroo Bay. Kroo Bay is a slum community in Africa. Every child needs to walk far` away to the doctor. In Kroo Bay they don’t have enough medicine. They only have one clinic in the whole of Kroo Bay. One child out of five will die of malaria. Every 30 seconds people will die.

In Kroo Bay they have built their homes out of rubbish. People in Kroo Bay don’t have electricity. They don’t have windows, they have curtains. They do not have stable houses.

Save the Children helps poor children all around the world. I would like to buy a mosquito net from the Save the Children Wish List. $13 is the price.

How to Make a Fossil

Fossils are precious and hard to find so in Room 5 we made our own.
You need:
Clay,
A shell,
Plaster of Paris,
And a container.
This is what you do.
First you get some clay.
Second you need to put the clay into the container.
Next push your shell into the clay.
After that you ask an adult to pour Plaster of Paris onto the clay.
Then leave them to dry for a few days.
When your model is dry you take it out of the container and peel off the clay. You can paint your model if you like.
I hope you enjoy your model fossil.
